Start my trip right, dining with Kate and Phillip at a local udon shop (in a building 5 minutes from Tamachi Station 田町): sesame salad, grilled wings, and fresh-made seafood udon. 

  

Layover: Portland

Rogue Pub in Portland airport (D terminal) made our layover extremely pleasant. Simply put, getting tipsy at around 9:30 a.m. before a 10 hour flight to Tokyo was an excellent decision. Plus a bowl of clam chowder, best of its kind. So it goes.
